Above 1 million legal immigrants are allowed in to the US per year besides the illegal ones who sneak in. The United States is grappling with the news of thousands of Central American immigrants who are making their way through southern Mexico in an attempt to enter the US. With the country’s midterm election very close, the issue of these immigrants is continually mentioned in campaigns. The White House is taking strict actions against such advancement by illegal immigrants. The president of US, has called out to them to turn back. He stated that a lot of gang members and dangerous people are mixed into the Caravan that is approaching the southern border of the country. “Our Military is waiting for you,” he said. An official source said 5, 200 troops will head to the south-west region in the next few days.
This action by the government has received varying reactions across the country. The American Civil Liberties Union called this action a political opportunism. A representative of the union stated that these immigrants include children who need the protection of the US and raising such huge number of military against them isn’t justifiable.
John H. Pickle, Jr. confirms that
Mr. Pickle said a larger percentage of these illegal immigrants who enter the US in order to have a better life have little education and very few skills. For both union and non-union jobs, downward pressure is put on wages by these scarcely skilled immigrants. In contrary to the legal immigrants who mostly become productive citizens, illegal immigrants hurt our country. They can hardly escape the extreme poverty they are running from because of their inability to speak English hence pushing our economy down.
He concluded by saying that sanctuary cities represent tragic attraction and if left to continue, will destroy our nation. It will sink our country just like trying to put 100 people in a boat made for 20.
