Wanted By ICC, Sudan President Applies For The US Visa

The Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir involved in the war crimes wanted by the International Criminal Court had applied for the United States visa. Bashir is likely to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

If the United States grants the visa to Bashir, then it would be his first visit after indictment in the war crimes in 2009. The Hague-based International Criminal Court indicted him in war crimes in Sudan’s Darfur region.

The Bashir’s press representative announced that the Sudan President along with his representative applied for the US visas for attending the UN Assembly.

When the Bashir, applied for the visa 2014 for the General Assembly meeting his application was rejected by the United States Government.

The United States Embassy in Khartoum did not comment on the visa application.

Sudan’s Foreign Minister Kamal Ismail, said that it is the right of the Sudan, to send its representatives to the UN General Assembly meeting.

The Ismail said that the Nation hosting the United Nation institutions is refusing the visas to other member states then it is the gross violation of the commitment made in the United Nations.

The United States has been regularly opposing the Bashir’s international travel, last week the US criticized the Uganda’s President for inviting the Sudan President for the swearing in ceremony.

During the swearing-in ceremony, the diplomats of Canada, the United States, European Union, walked away from the ceremony, protesting his presence in the ceremony.

The Uganda has the compulsion to arrest the convicts of war crimes in its territories, despite the obligation Basher was hosted for the event.
