Eight people have been arrested by the German police over the rape of an 18-year-old female student in Freiburg, Germany. The eight suspects include seven refugees from Syria and one is a citizen of Germany. The Alternative for Germany party has requested that citizens should hold a peaceful protest on Monday to show their displeasure on this incident. However, counter-demonstrators have urged people to avoid using this situation as an agenda for stirring up negative sentiments against immigrants. The incident which is believed to have occurred on the midnight of 13th October when the woman had gone to a club situated in the city center. The victim claimed to have been to the club with another female friend and took a drink from a certain man. She said that she followed the man from the club around midnight, but felt very defenseless as the man had put something in the drink he gave to her. She was then attacked by one of the suspects in a nearby bush, after which the other men took their turns on her. The authorities have identified most of the suspects as residents of the refugee camp and known criminals.
