Connie Koontz was the first killing. The 56-year-old was found dead by her disabled mum in their residence in the Gardnerville Ranchos. She was shot to death on January 9 or 10. On January 13, another body was found in a home about a mile away from the first. It was that of 74-year-old Sophia Renken who was also shot to death. Then 81-year-old Gerald David and his 80-year-old wife, Sharon David, were also found shot to death in their residence on January 16. A neighbor of David's family who noticed some unusual things called a close ally of the family who then called the deputies after considering it needful. The deputies found the bodies inside the home. A search was done on January 18 based on tips during which few things were gathered, but nothing categorically connects it to Saturday's arrest.
