Less Than 1% of illegal Immigrants Were Expatriated Last Year From US

Fewer than 1% of over 4,80,000 immigrants who were staying illegally even after their visas got expired were extradited by Customs and Immigration Enforcement Department last year.

According to the statistics from US ICE Department to the Judiciary Committee of Senate, only around 2,456 foreigners who were staying illegally even after their visas got expired were extradited  from the US  last year.

Last year which was extended from 1st October 2014 to 30th September 2015. These statistics are only for individuals who visited on visitor visa for pleasure or doing business or through  visa waiver program. It do not include individuals from other categories of visa like Mexican citizens who utilize cards meant for border crossing.

US ICE has removed 51,704 individuals who were staying illegally even after their visa got expired from the US since 2009, and number of extraditions has declined year on year.  With around 12,538 removed in the year 2009, around 11, 259 in the year 2010, around 10,426 in the year 2011, and around 6,856 in the year 2012, 4240 in the year 2013, 3564 in the year 2014 and 2456 last year.
