Evidence that a Garden State golf club, owned by the President of the United States - Donald Trump, may have breached immigration regulations by giving undocumented employees fraudulent green cards and Social Security Numbers (SSN) is in the custody of the attorney general of New Jersey according to reports.
Counsel to many undocumented immigrant workers at Mr. Trump's National Golf Club, Anibal Romero, first spoke about this evidence in a report published on Saturday. Romero also revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and special counsel Robert Mueller know about the evidence and have been part of the state's probe into the golf club.
Earlier this month, both Victorina Morales and Sandra Diaz made headlines for revealing their illegal status, hence typifying underlining hypocrisy in Mr. Trump's antagonistic remarks concerning immigration. Romero is the attorney of these two women who is said to be part of numerous undocumented immigrants working at Trump’s golf course. It was further reported that while Diaz has become a U.S. resident after working for the President's golf club, Morales is still an undocumented immigrant.
Many Undocumented Immigrants Were Recruited
According to Victorina Morales, many illegal workers were hired by the golf club. She, as well as Diaz, decided to blow it open because they have merely had enough insults and abuse from the president given the fact that they contribute to his wealth.
Romero said he has been in touch with prosecutors from the attorney general of New Jersey's office and has handed over to the fake green cards and SSN allegedly given to workers who worked in the golf club.
He said he informed federal prosecutors of the evidence through Mueller’s office before meeting with state prosecutors. He said further that he did not contact the Justice Department directly because former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, appointed by Trump, was still directing it. Mueller's office told Romero the situation was beyond their jurisdiction but was later contacted by the FBI after being briefed of the situation by the Mueller's office.
While both FBI and Mueller's office declined to comment on the situation, Romero said he is convinced thorough investigation will be conducted.
